Thanks for the Llama, the watch and the favourites
You are welcome - your work is a refreshing view.  It is great to see a naturalist who like to carve natural material - too much digital stuff out there.  I am an old-school guy who loves "real" 3D artistic expression.  Well done and please keep doing it!
Thanks, I am curious what you are going to show. Your carvings looks good.
Thanks - just finished a couple - they should post soon - I am a noob compared to you - your stuff is awesome

Hi Brian,  I'm impressed with your carvings, even more to see that these are just your first ones!!
thanks so much for the encouragement - I am enjoying experimenting!  I love your work and am inspired to improve my skills.  right now I am practicing carving scrap pine from a home improvement project I did.  Looking forward to getting some basswood and being freed of wrestling so hard with grain in the pine.
I have yet to work with pine, but I am well aware of it's reputation (splintering, sticky sap) and am impressed with what you're making with it.  I look forward to hearing how you like basswood, you're in for a real treat and will likely laugh as you make your first cuts (know I did, it cut so easily).  I think you've done plenty of practicing!

If you're looking for a source of bass, you might want to check out these guys:  www.heineckewood.com I used some of their wood for the 'Sun King sconce', I glued two 4" planks together.
